Beliefs And Your Reality

I sat down last weekend and spent some time setting my intentions for 2022 – what I want to create and manifest this year. Even though I was looking forward, I ended up also looking back over the past year – what I had learned, what’s changed in my life and in me.

The last few months of 2021 I listened almost every day to a presentation called No Rules. Every time I hear it, it inspires and excites me in some way, all the way to my soul. One of the points of this presentation is the universe rearranges itself around your pictures of reality. That means your reality starts with you, with what you believe to be true (a variation on the Law of Attraction). You are the creator of your reality, like an artist painting a picture using your thoughts and beliefs as the paint. The universe then reacts to that painting, helping to bring it to life.

Whether you are aware of this power within you or not, you continue to create your reality. If you’re not aware of it, then you’re creating as if you were on auto-pilot. When you are aware of it, you can then create deliberately, on purpose – a conscious creator.

Now, if you can create your own reality, that means everyone else can too. It also means that different realties can be running at the same time. Have you even been to a party and you thought it was great, but someone else thought it sucked? Same party, different realities. Expand that out to life in general and the world we live in. If no two people’s realities are the same, think about how many realities exist in the world right now!

You see examples of this every day. We’re going into another year with things like omicron, political divisiveness and climate change, things that cause fear.  You see people living a reality that has a lot of fear in it. That fear takes many forms – worry, doubt, anger, depression, anxiety, stress, powerlessness, blame, despair. You also see people living a reality that has a lot of love in it. Love also takes many forms, like compassion, joy, laughter, passion, empowerment, gratitude, optimism, cooperation, harmony. The beauty is that we each have free will to believe what we like and create our reality from that. If people want to live in fear, that’s their choice, but it doesn’t have to be yours. And yet we all still exist together on the planet.

In order to be a conscious, purposeful creator of your reality, you have to look at your beliefs and ask if that’s what you really believe to be true. Is it your inner truth? As you sift through your beliefs, if it’s not ringing true with your inner truth, if it doesn’t serve you well, then pitch it or shift it. And as you do that, the universe will continue to rearrange itself around you, shifting as you shift your beliefs.

As you examine your beliefs, you may find some that you’ve learned or adopted from others. That’s normal. It happens with the people in your life, like family and friends. You can pick beliefs up in school, groups, religions and society. The news can also influence/affect your beliefs. Some may ring true with your inner truth, others many not. When they don’t, you are now running other’s people’s beliefs… as your own. And the universe is rearranging itself around you based on some pictures of reality that aren’t even yours. In effect, you’re partly living someone else’s reality, their truth. You’re actually giving some of your power away. And to a powerful, creative soul, that doesn’t feel very good!

Don’t be afraid to go within and start looking around. Think of it as an internal treasure hunt. You’re looking for things that aren’t serving you well and letting them go; cleaning up your vibration (remember, beliefs are energy). And in return you’ll feel better, be owning your power more and be consciously creating your life, your reality… the kind your dreams are made of! P.S. dream big!
