Intuition and Fake News

Intuition and Fake NewsIntuition is a topic I talk about a lot and how important it is to tune in to and listen to it. This became even more essential as I read about the recent indictment of people who interfered in our US election through social media. There is a lot going on in the world. Here in the US, we are experiencing a transition that has felt bumpy at best. We are seeing terms like fake news and alternative facts being thrown around for various reasons. I’ve felt this, I’ve talked with others about this, I hear it around me… where or how do I find reliable information or news, what’s really going on, the truth?

When I was a kid, I remember there being the newspaper, TV, radio and word of mouth. Now we have the internet which has expanded our horizons (and sources of info) and made the world seem smaller in some ways. We have access to so much more information, but this should come as no surprise to anyone… not all of it is accurate. Not all of it is unbiased. Not all of it contributes to the overall good or understanding of humankind. That is why listening to your intuition is even more important. It will help you as you hear, read or receive information. As you sift through information. As you choose where to get your information. Your intuition will help you to ask questions of what you do receive, maybe poking a hole in something or validating it. It can lead you to additional information that will bring you clarity. Use your intuition to see through all the games, the mudslinging, the distractions, the fake news and the alternative facts so you can zero in on the truth and what’s really going on. So you can make informed and empowered decisions based on fact rather than fear and ego.

It is so important to determine if what we are reading is straight journalism or editorializing. It is also important to read different points of view before making up our own minds about what is valid. Asking ourselves, “What do we know to be true today”, is a useful place to start. Perhaps the real “fake” news occurs when we approach information through the filters of fear and ego.
