LIA

Thinking about my first blog entry, I knew I wanted to write about my web address. While that may not seem very spiritual like, it has everything to do with my journey. It’s about listening to the guidance I get from Spirit, embracing who I am and letting the path go where it may.

On my home page I write about ‘laughing in amazement’ or LIA for short. I created that phrase after my spirit guide told me I needed a different way to express the things I was experiencing. Up until that point, whenever I wrote in my journal or told someone about something incredible that had happened, I would describe it as unbelievable or crazy. I remember a few times thinking that’s not the best way to describe it, but I kept on doing it. One day while I was vacuuming I got a clear, strong thought that I need to stop using those kinds of words and find better ones. A few days later I was surprised when my instructor told me that my guide was communicating that I invalidate my experiences when I use those kinds of words! I was shocked because I hadn’t told my instructor about the thought while vacuuming and I was excited because that was the first time I really felt like I heard my spirit guide! After thinking about it, I came up with laughing in amazement! It fits me because so many times I have just started laughing when I realize what Spirit has done and words can’t even begin to describe how it feels to know they are listening and there for me. Sometimes I end up crying happy tears, but my child-like spirit prefers laughing! Besides, Spirit knows my sense of humor and I believe they like to play into it! I thought coming up with the phrase would be the end of that, but it was just the beginning.

LIA showed up again in a different form. I’ve been going to a chiropractor for a few years now. Earlier this year I was frustrated because I kept having the same problems and the adjustments didn’t feel like they were working. I was talking with my brother-in-law and he told me about a different kind of chiropractor he has been going to and the difference it has made for him. I looked into it and was a bit skeptical, so I decided to ask Spirit for help. The information I received was that the problems were both physical and past life related and this new chiropractor could help me. So I healed the past life part and made an appointment with the chiropractor. Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to the office and saw the sign with LIA on it! Up until then I only knew the doctor’s name, not the name of the practice itself! I knew it was a sign that I was on the right path and 3½ months later I’m feeling a lot better!

Now we get to the part about my web address. Naturally, the first one I looked into was my name. Wouldn’t you know it, someone got it already! I came up with a few options but nothing felt right to me. I wrote down laughing in amazement but that seemed too long. As I was looking at it I saw my initials at the beginning and end of laughing. Hmmm… LgInAmazement. Could it really be that easy? I did a little research and found that domain name was available. YES!!! And it just felt right! I love the fact that it can be laughing in amazement, Laura Gentner in amazement, living in amazement, loving in amazement, etc. What’s funny is that most of my life I have not liked my initials because when you say them it sounds like ‘algae’. That’s not the image I want people to have when they think of me! A few years ago, a friend of mine started calling me LG and for the first time it didn’t bother me. In fact, we are both word buffs and her calling me by my initials has inspired me to play around with them and come up with different versions just to make her laugh! So it seems fitting that lg ends up in my web address as I embrace who I am, initials and all!

Looking back at how LIA started, I never could have guessed that it would become more than just a phrase for me! The fact that it keeps showing up validates to me that I’m on the right track. That’s the thing when you become aware. You know that Spirit is always around to help you. You just have to ask. And when Spirit helps you, they not only keep it simple but you’ll often find that one thing can lead to another. And when you find that next thing and realize how Spirit helped you, maybe you’ll be laughing in amazement too!
