Go With The Flow

B5 Go With The FlowThis summer I’ve been enjoying the great weather and spending more time outside enjoying nature. I have been listening to the birds singing around my house, watching the plants bloom with all their beautiful colors and two weeks ago I had the first tomatoes from my garden. Yum! There’s nothing like veggies from the garden! I’ve also been enjoying my walks around my neighborhood. This morning I walked through the park and sat by the river that runs through it. I watched as the water flowed by and noticed some things. Most of the river is constantly moving, sometimes faster, sometimes slower, but always continuing downstream. If there’s some obstacle, the water just flows around it and keeps going. Then there are groups of rocks that form a sort of wall or alcove that brings the water to a complete stop. Well, it seems as though it stops, until you take a closer look. Tiny currents of water still manage to somehow get around or through the rocks and get back into the flow of the river.

Observing all this, it hit me how life is the same way. You can flow along in the different currents. That’s when things just seem to keep happening one after the other that keep you moving forward and really living life. Isn’t it funny how when that’s happening we call it “being in the flow”?! You may be in the faster currents, where there is no stopping and you just go right around any obstacle. Or you may be in a slower current, where you may get hung up on an obstacle for a moment, but get right back into the flow. Regardless, you’re moving forward. And then there are the areas of rocks. These represent the problems, difficulties and challenges we face in our lives. You smack right into them and just seem to stop. Some are bigger, some are smaller, but what matters is what you do if you run into them. Will you just sit there, getting knocked around or will you try and get yourself out? Something that will help you is to change how you see the rocks. Instead of thinking of them as something negative or an obstacle, what if you see them as lessons? When you hit the rocks, you can ask yourself “what am I supposed to be learning here?” Tune in to your intuition for help with the answer. You can also ask Spirit for help. Once you know what the lesson is, you can make the necessary changes, get out of there and continue on down the river.

Where are you in the river of life right now? Whether it is a job, relationship or some other part of life, the decisions you make (or don’t make) can either keep you in the same part or steer you into a different part of the river. You may not always be in the fastest current. You may run into the rocks. Those are the ups and downs of life that are the lessons you came here to learn in this lifetime. The key is to listen to and follow your intuition. It will always guide you in the right direction, keeping you in or getting you back in the flow. You have to be willing to follow it. And there’s also Spirit, who will always help you if you ask. Spirit and your intuition know the big picture of your life and will never steer you wrong! So next time you have some decision to make, try asking your intuition or Spirit and listen. And don’t be surprised when you find yourself going with the flow!
